Burdwan Varnamala Welfare Society was formed by a group of young people coming together to work towards the upliftment and empowerment of underprivileged children in Burdwan. They want to give them a better life by providing them access to quality education.
The district of Burdwan in West Bengal is called the ‘rice bowl’ of Bengal owing to the number of agricultural fields and high production of rice. It is also on its way to being highly industrialized and is known for its eco-park, science center, and other must-visit sites.
Burdwan is also the home of a number of daily wage laborers and their families who earn a living by working on agricultural land, coal mines and other jobs that don’t pay them enough to make it through the day. The children in these families often end up not going to school or dropping out due to financial problems. It’s heartbreaking to see these kids spend their days working jobs or doing housework when they should be studying, learning, and playing with their friends.

Having an education will help these children get better opportunities and rise from the financial situation that they have to suffer through today. The Society currently conducts evening classes for 40+ children who are extremely enthusiastic about going to school. All they want to do is learn and grow. Each child dreams of a better future, and Burdwan Varnamala Welfare Society wants to do everything it can to give them what they deserve.
